Today we officially hit the second trimester! This is where most people feel comfortable and out of the high-risk zone. Unfortunately we won’t be considered low risk until the third trimester, because of the hematoma and the lost twin. We still feel so happy to have made it to this point with a healthy little baby.
This week’s ultrasound showed our little chicken growing nice and strong. The heartbeat was perfect and of course music to my ears. Our doctor said the hematoma is shrinking and the twin is starting to be reabsorbed. That’s what we were hoping for, because it means the body is putting all the energy into the remaining baby. Next week we have the genetic screening and then we won’t have another ultrasound for a month. It’s been nice to see our baby every weekly, sometimes twice a week, but having appointments spread out means the doctor isn’t as worried. That of course means we don’t have to be worried, and now we can relax and focus on our expanding family.
